2007 Buick Lucerne Fuel Rail Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the fuel rail assembly on 2007 Buick Lucerne?
A: The replacement of Fuel Rail assembly requires pressure relief from the fuel system first. Disconnect the fuel feed pipe using the quick connector at the rail end then remove the pcv tube from both the intake pipe and the manifold along with the spark plug wire removal from ignition coils. The next step requires detachment of the engine harness connectors from throttle actuator , engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor , ignition control module wiring harness , manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor , fuel injectors , exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve , evaporative emission (EVAP) solenoid , and heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) pigtail. You should unfasten the retainers on the engine harness which attach to the Fuel Rail and also unfasten the two retainers from the heat shield. Place the engine harness branches to a side and remove the nuts securing the Fuel Rail. Use smooth and balanced pressure to raise the Fuel Rail. A new Fuel Rail needs the complete removal of Fuel Injector retainers with fuel injectors and discard of upper o-ring seals and lower o-ring seals. Install new o-ring seals by applying clean engine oil before fixing them to injectors and finally installing both injectors and their retainers. Place the Fuel Rail in position while placing the lower o-ring seals for lubrication and seating the injectors. It is necessary to fasten the Fuel Rail nuts with 10 n.m torque while applying 89 lb in of force. The engine harness should be positioned over the engine while the retainers attach to the Fuel Rail followed by electrical connection to the fuel injectors , ho2s pigtail, egr valve and evap solenoid . After installing the retainers (1, 3) to the heat shield and connecting the MAP Sensor , ignition control module wiring harness and ect sensor you should proceed to connect the throttle actuator . Use the spark plug wire retainer to attach it to the Fuel Rail afterward replace Spark Plug Wires at ignition coils before installing the pcv tube and connecting the fuel feed pipe quick connect fitting. Finish the procedure by connecting the negative battery cable then following a leak test protocol by turning the ignition on for two seconds followed by ten seconds off and another two seconds on to finish with the Intake Manifold cover installation.
