  • Q: How to replace the oil pan on 2007 Buick Rendezvous?
    A: Initial step, install the fixture for the engine (J42462-B) and remove the right side Engine Mount. Drain the crankcase and remove Oil Filter. Remove clips from the engine harness for the Wheel Speed Sensor from the right lower Control Arm then remove the cotter pin from the ball stud. Loosen the ball stud nut with a small amount of turning. Then support the component and remove the Wheel Speed Sensor. Employ the use of ball stud/joint separator (J 41820) to separate the ball stud from the Steering Knuckle by twisting the nut clock wise. 1. Then, take out A/C Compressor bolts and set the A/C Compressor to the side. If you have regular production option (RPO) m76, take out the bolts and the transaxle brace, then do the same for rpo m 15. While the Starter's out, unplug the engine harness electrical connector from the oil pressure sensor and pull the retainers holding the Brake Line to the frame. Here, the transaxle mount to cradle nuts should be removed and after that the cradle is to be supported using an adjustable jack and another person assists by removing the cradle bolts and the cradle itself. Proceed to remove the Oil Pan side bolts and the Oil Pan bolts, then pull the Oil Pan and gasket. Clean surfaces around the Oil Pan sealing, and replace it with a new Oil Pan Gasket; if needed, apply sealer on both sides of the crankshaft rear main bearing cap. Mount the Oil Pan and engage the Oil Pan bolts to 25 ad 0.18 lb ft and the Oil Pan side bolts to 50 n.m (37 lb ft). With help, position the cradle below the vehicle and install the cradle bolts; tighten the front bolts to 155 n.m (114 lb ft), and wrench the rear bolts to 240 n.m (177 lb ft). Install the transaxle mount to cradle nuts and tighten them 47 n.m (35 lb ft), together with the Brake Line retainers. Reattach the engine harness electrical wire connector to the oil pressure sensor, install the Starter, and rpo m15 and rpo m76 transmitter brace, and bolts at 43 n.m (32 lb ft) and 43 n.m (31 lb ft) accordingly. Mount the A/C Compressor, bolt it, and tighten the bolts at 50 n.m (37 lb ft). So align the ball stude cotter pin hole up to the knuckle fasten the ball stud to knuckle and tigthen theball stud nut to 55 n.m (40 lb ft) so the cotter pin hole would align. Change the new cotter pin in the newbend the ends and reinstall the engine harness clips on the Wheel Speed Sensor. Lastly, install the Oil Filter, fill the crankcase, install the right side Engine Mount, and pull off the engine support fixture (J42462-B).
