2007 Buick Rendezvous Steering Shaft Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the intermediate steering shaft on 2007 Buick Rendezvous?
A: Before disconnecting the Steering Column, Steering Shaft coupling, intermediate Steering Shaft, and lower Steering Shaft make sure the Steering Column is in the lock mode as movement of the front tyres and wheels could result in improper alignment and risks to sir coil damage. Start by fitting the Steering Column anti-rotation pin (J 42640) into the Steering Column. Turn off the ignition with wheel in straight forward direction, then lift and hold off the vehicle. Push up the intermediate shaft lower seal into the intermediate shaft upper seal to gain the access to the intermediate shaft lower bolt and remove the left front tire and wheel. Now remove the lower pinch bolt of the intermediate shaft and push the intermediate Steering Shaft up in order to separate from the steering gear. Pump down the vehicle, then take your left closeout panel off. Pull off the intermediate Steering Shaft seal down sack from the Steering Column for access of the intermediate Steering Shaft upper bolt and then remove the pinch bolt intermediate shaft to Steering Column and disengage the intermediate shaft from the Steering Column. Remove the intermediate Steering Shaft from the inside of the vehicle. For installation, place the intermediate Steering Shaft through the intermediate Steering Shaft seal and also fix it to the Steering Column. Install the upper pinch bolt of the intermediate Steering Shaft and tighten it with 48 n.m (35 lb ft). Retrace the intermediate Steering Shaft to the Steering Column, and remove the left closeout section, and elevate the vehicle. Secure the intermediate Steering Shaft to the steering gear and then attach the lower pinch bolt of the intermediate Steering Shaft by tightening it to a force of 48 n.m (35 lb ft). Check proper alignment of the intermediate Steering Shaft seal with the shaft clearance before the installation of the left front tyre and wheel and finally to lower the vehicle.
