2007 Cadillac DTS Battery Cable Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the positive battery cable on 2007 Cadillac DTS?
A: Begin by disconnecting the negative battery cable before you remove the surge tank. Then you should proceed with replacing the positive battery cable. The procedure continues with carpet removal followed by positive battery cable cover unsnapper. Position the cover where it belongs. Start by untightening the positive battery cable bolt and removing the positive battery cable from its position at the battery. Start by taking out the three components of the positive battery cable system: remove the positive battery cable retainer from floor pan stud and the positive battery cable nut and terminal from junction block stud and the positive battery cable retainer from rocker panel. After separating the positive battery cable retainers (point numbers 2 through 4) from the body harness channel remove the positive battery cable clips (2 through 4) from body harness retainer mounts and finally detach the positive battery cable clip from the dash mat. Free the dash mat flap and unlock the hood-mounted junction block tabs to remove the junction block cover. Disengage the nut holding the starter solenoid cable to the bussed electrical center before pulling out both the starter solenoid cable from the BEC stud and the positive battery cable from its BEC stud position. Remove side engine compartment positive battery clips along with carefully extracting the positive battery cable grommet from the dash front area. Inside the vehicle use hand grips to extract the positive battery cable through the dash's front compartment so it exits the vehicle. When installing the new positive battery cable route the front section through the dash front before placing the positive battery cable grommet into position from underneath the hood. Attach the positive battery clips to the side engine compartment then connect the positive battery cable to the BEC stud and the starter solenoid cable to the BEC stud. Secure the starter solenoid cable with nut to the BEC, apply 15 N.m (11 lb ft) of torque before installing the junction block cover. Position the dash mat flap from the inside of the vehicle before attaching the positive battery cable clip to the mat. Secure additional positive battery cable clips (2, 3, and 4) to body harness retainers. Secure first the positive battery cable retainer to the rocker panel and then install positive battery cable retainers (2, 3, and 4) to the body harness channel. Use the positive battery cable terminal along with nut to join the junction block stud before tightening the nut to 15 N.m (11 lb ft torque specification). Put the positive battery cable retainer on the floor pan stud before guiding the positive battery cable to the battery and screwing the positive battery cable bolt to 17 N.m (13 lb ft). After securing the positive battery cable cover with snaps you can reconnect the negative battery cable followed by carpet reinstallation and surge tank installation.
