• Q: How to replace the alternator on 2007 Cadillac DTS?

  A: To change the generator, initially, disconnect the negative Battery Cable, afterward, separate the Radiator, and the Drive Belt. Remove the generator terminal nut and starter solenoid cable terminal, reposition the starter solenoid cable protective boot at the generator and disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connection from the generator. Next, unbolt the generator and move the engine ground cable before taking out the generator. For installation, place the generator onto the engine, and install generator bolt finger tighten in this order: upper bolt, bolt on the side, and lower bolt, tighten till a torque of 50 n. M (.37 lb ft ). Connect the starting solenoid wire terminal to the generator and then apply the generator terminal nut and tighten it to 12 n.m (106 lb in). Reposition the starter solenoid cable protection boot at generator, connect the Drive Belt to generator's wiring harness electrical connector, and install Drive Belt and Radiator. Finally connect the negative Battery Cable.
