2007 Cadillac Escalade ESV Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the front brake disc on a 1500 Series on 2007 Cadillac Escalade ESV?
A: The brake master cylinder reservoir fluid inspection must be the first step before commencing front Brake Disc replacement on a 1500 series vehicle. Use a fluid level measurement tool to determine if you need to drain fluid from the middle line upwards. Lift and stabilize the vehicle while you remove both wheel and tire components. Record the initial disc position on the hub before taking it out. Use two large c-clamps (J 41013) to push the brake caliper pistons fully back while using heavy mechanic wire to suspend the caliper to protect the brake hose from damage. Use 2 mounting bolts to separate the Brake Caliper Bracket and its accompanying caliper while mounting support to the assembly. First remove the Brake Disc retaining push nuts and Brake Disc screw. The disc will not separate from the hub until you clean the surfaces and apply penetrating oil while using 2 m10 x 1.5 bolts to drive the disc off. When installing new discs users need to utilize denatured alcohol for removing protective coatings. Use the wheel hub resurfacing kit (J 42450-A) on the hub flange and apply the disc resurfacing kit (J 41013) on the disc inside diameter before installation. Carefully check both mating surfaces for foreign objects before aligning and mounting the disc into position while torquing the screw to 12 n.m (106 lb in). Measure the disc lro of the assembled unit when possible to make adjustments when readings exceed technical limits. Position the brake caliper together with its bracket on the designated spot before cleansing the existing adhesive from bolts and adding threadlocker gm p/n 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488) before tightening mounting bolts to 200 n.m (148 lb ft). Reinstall the tire and wheel assembly followed by lowering the vehicle and pressing the brake pedal gradually when the engine is off to position the caliper pistons and pads. Also refill the brake fluid reservoir when needed with clean brake fluid.
