    Q:
How to replace the front brake disc on a 1500 Series on Cadillac Escalade ESV? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before swapping the front Brake Disc of a 1500 series vehicle check the brake master cylinder reservoir for fluid level that must sit between medium and low marks. Drain fluid when the level exceeds midpoint. Lift the vehicle up and switch off the wheel to obtain access to the tire assembly. Trace the hub connection points when reinstalling the factory Brake Disc. Push down the brake caliper pistons towards the caliper housing using 2 large c-clamps (J 41013) and tighten them fully to retract the pistons. Secure the brake caliper to heavy mechanic wire before fluid loss to stop damaging the hydraulic brake hose. Use two wrenches to remove the Brake Caliper Bracket and caliper unit by taking off its two bolts. Secure the caliper and bracket unit with heavy mechanics wire as you detach it from its position. Take off both Brake Disc dowel pins and wheel rotor bolt. By placing wheel nuts on wheel studs you can tap the disc apart from the Wheel Hub using a deadblow hammer. After cleaning all disc parts apply penetrating oil and put 2 m10 x 1.5 metric bolts through the two threads in the disc then fasten them evenly. Remove protective coating from Brake Disc friction surfaces by cleaning the surfaces with denatured alcohol or a similar brake cleaner. To prepare wheel parts for installation the reinstall kit tools j 42450-a and j 41013 should be used to remove all rust and debris from the hub flange and Brake Disc center. Set the disc in its correct position and fix it to the hub using the Brake Disc screw at 106 pound inches torque setting. Check how well the disc performs as part of its brake system repair by measuring the assembled lateral runout. Before placing the parts together apply the specified gm threadlocker (part number 12345493) and then tighten the bolts to 200 n.m using precise hand movement. Put the tire and wheel back on and let the vehicle down. Press the brake pedal slowly to 2/3 of its journey without starting the engine. Continue the procedure until you have a steady pedal position and add fresh brake fluid to the reservoir when required.

    Q:
How to replace the front brake disc on a 2500 Series on Chevrolet Tahoe? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before the Brake Disc replacement task begins, inspect the brake fluid level in the master cylinder tank and adjust it midway between maximum and acceptable marks. Drain fluid to that level when the fluid sits above mid-mark. Set up the vehicle for service then take off both tire and wheel parts. When reinstalling the original Brake Disc, you must trace its alignment with the hub. Push brake caliper pistons back using 2 strong c-clamps on the caliper body toward the rear Brake Pad until the pistons fully return. Affix heavy mechanic wire to the brake caliper to protect the hydraulic flexible brake hose from getting harmed during handling. Take out all 2 bolts connecting the brake assembly and lift it with wire support to keep it safe. When discs do not separate from the hub, use penetrating oil and 2 m10 x 1.5 bolts at threaded disc holes to press the disc off while cleaning the parts. Before adding a new disc, clean the braking surface areas with denatured alcohol or a brake cleaner suitable alternative while making sure the hub/axle flange remains free of rust and contamination to prevent improper disc alignment. Apply the j-42450-a wheel hub resurfacing kit to prepare the hub flange surface after thoroughly cleaning the part. Check for debris and position the disc perfectly before mounting it. Check the aligned Brake Disc's lateral runout dimension against its production tolerance and restore the measurement to factory levels when needed. Place the brake caliper and bracket parts while cleaning the bolt threads with threadlocker gm p/n 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488) before tightening the bolts to 300 nm (221 lb ft) torque. Put back the tire and wheel assembly while letting the vehicle down then press the brake pedal slowly until it reaches 2/3 of its distance before letting go. Perform this procedure until the brake pedal feels strong and top off the master cylinder with fresh brake fluid while cutting Brake Pad and disc surfaces.

    Q:
How to replace the front brake disc on a 1500 Series on GMC Yukon? Posted by Customer
    A:
To change the front Brake Disc for a 1500 series vehicle, start out by checking the level of the brake master cylinder reservoir fluid. If the value happens to fall between the maximum and minimum values midway, then pull out fluid in order to provide such a value. Lift the car, and disconnect the tire and wheel assembly. If replacing the original Brake Disc, mark its relationship to the hub. Plug an empty fuel tank if not yet done, and then raise the car's front using the jack stands and arm the parking brake. Support the brake caliper using heavy mechanic wire to avoid the damage of a futuristic brake hose. Take out the brake caliper bolt and caliper as an assembly by removing the two mounting caliper bolts and then supporting the assembly with wire. Pull the Brake Disc retaining push nuts and the Brake Disc screw. Striking the disc with a deadblow hammer will cause the disc to vibrate and slip off the Wheel Hub. If the disc will not come off then clean the surfaces, apply penetrating oil, and start two m10 x 1.5 bolts into the disc's tapped holes then tighten it evenly to push the disc off. During installation, clean out the rust and contaminants from the hub flange using j-42450 -a (Wheel Hub Resurfacing Kit) and the interior diameter of the Brake Disc using j -41013 (Disc Resurfacing Kit). Clean the mating surfaces of the debris, align the disc with its original location, and fix it. Tighten the Brake Disc to 12 nm (106 Lb in) by screwing it, keeping in mind that a belt can be broken when the wrench stretches to adjust its depth with the rod. Replace the brake caliper and bracket, making sure to remove the old adhesive from the mounting bolts and clean the threads of the nuts, and apply a threadlocker gm p/n 12345493 (Canadian P/N10953488), and tighten the two mounting bolts to 200 nm (148 lb ft), as shown in fig. 1. Reattach the tire and wheel assembly, and then with the engine off, work up to about 2/3 pedal travel, release it slowly, and repeat until the pedal is firm. Make sure to fill the master cylinder reservoir with fresh brake fluid where necessary, and you burnish the brake pads and discs if they were refinished or replaced.
