    Q:
How to replace the front disc brake pads on the 2500 Series on Cadillac Escalade ESV? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before working on the front brake pads of the 2500 series inspect the brake master cylinder reservoir. If fluid shows above the midpoint between its highest and lowest limits drain it to the midpoint. First lift the vehicle and afterwards take off the tire and wheel components. Apply 2 large c-clamps over the caliper housing to push both brake caliper pistons inward until they are completely compressed. Secure the brake caliper with heavy mechanic wire to keep it safe during brake hose removal when taking out its guide pin bolts. Pull out the brake caliper from its bracket while keeping track of the Brake Pad wear sensor placement applied on it. Check and remove the old retaining springs from the brake caliper then study its internal components. Insert fresh Brake Pad retaining springs onto the caliper bracket before putting the new brake pads inside and placing their wear sensor correctly. Fix the brake caliper to the bracket by inserting guide pin bolts then tightening them to 108 n.m (80 lb ft). Place the wheel back on and lower the vehicle. Without starting the engine apply the brake to about two-thirds of its span before releasing. Keep applying the Brake Pedal for regular cycles until you create a strong brake feeling that lets the caliper pistons and brake pads reach their ideal position. Put clean brake fluid into the brake master cylinder reservoir until it stays at its right level. Also make sure brake pads and discs become perfectly smooth.

    Q:
How to replace the rear disc brake pads on the 1500 Series on Chevrolet Tahoe? Posted by Customer
    A:
To change the rear disc brake pads on the 1500 series, first, check the fluid level in a brake master cylinder reservoir. If above the midway point between the full in max and min allowable, drain to midway. Lift the vehicle and remove its tire and wheel assembly. Compress the Brake Caliper Piston through a strong c-clamp over the top of the caliper housing against the back of the outboard pad until the piston is fully retracted. Using hand tools, loosen the guide pin bolt and hold the guide pin with an open end wrench as you support the caliper with heavy mechanic wire to prevent damage from occurring to the hydraulic flexible brake hose. Unscrew the guide pin bolt from the brake caliper, then rotate the brake caliper up and rest it as needed. Take off the brake pads and retaining springs of the mounting bracket, making sure to replace the old springs with new ones. The next step involves installing the new retaining springs on the caliper mounting bracket and the new brake pads and removing the mechanic wire and rotating the brake caliper back to its position. Install new caliper guide pin bolts and tighten them to 38 nm (c28 lb ft) while maintaining the guide pin in an open end wrench. Put the tire and wheel assembly back on; lower the car; with the engine off, press down on the Brake Pedal gently to about 2/3 travel and let it off. Keep repeating until a firm pedal is obtained to effectively position the break caliper pistons and brake pads. Last but not least, top up the brake master cylinder reservoir to the correct level using clean brake fluid and burnish the brake pads and rotors.

    Q:
How to replace the front disc brake pads on the 2500 Series on Chevrolet Tahoe? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before changing the front disc brake pads of the 2500 series, one must check the fluid in the brake master cylinder reservoir; if the fluid is above half way midpoint between the maximum - full & minimum allowable points, then remove fluid to mid point. Lift and jack up the vehicle, then take off the tire and wheel assembly. Press down on the brake caliper pistons using two large c-clamps between the caliper housing and the rear of the outboard Brake Pad until the c-clamps are as stiff as they can be. Remove the brake caliper guide pin bolts and hold it up with heavy mechanic wire to avoid the hydraulic flexible brake hose to be damaged. Remove the brake caliper from the bracket and remove the brake pads marking the wear sensor orientation, if so equipped. Remove the old Brake Pad retaining springs and check the brake caliper. Mount new Brake Pad retaining springs to caliper bracket, then install new disc brake pads, making sure that the object of the wear sensor points towards the respective direction. Reattach the brake caliper back to the bracket, install guide pin bolts, and apply 108 nm (80 lb ft) of torque. Replace the tire and wheel assembly and lower the vehicle down, and with the engine off, pedal the brakes somewhat more than half way, then let off gently. Do this until the pedal is fully firm to seat the caliper pistons and brake pads correctly. Lastly, if required, fill the brake master cylinder reservoir to correct level with clean brake fluid and burnish the brake pads and discs.

    Q:
How to replace the front disc brake pads on the 2500 Series on GMC Yukon? Posted by Customer
    A:
In order to change the front disc brake pads on the 2500 series, the first step is to check the level of fluid in the brake master cylinder reservoir; if the level is above the midpoint between maximum-full and minimum allowable points, stop up fluid to the point of midway. Lift up the vehicle and take away the tire and wheel assembly. Use two large c-clamps through the brake caliper pistons while lifting the two caliper pistons using the clamps on the back side of the outboard Brake Pad, trying to push until the two pistons are fully retracted. Take out the brake caliper guide pin bolts and be sure to secure the caliper with heavy mechanic wire to prevent hydraulic flexible brake hose damage. Remove the brake pads from the brake caliper and take note of the Brake Pad wear sensor if it has one. Removing the brake caliper from the bracket. Throw away the old Brake Pad retaining springs and check the brake caliper. To install, fix brand new Brake Pad retaining springs to the calciper bracket, align the new disc brake pads, and remodel the brake caliper. Secure the caliper and guide pin bolts tightened with force of 108 nm (80 lb ft) and re-install the tire and the wheel assembly with the lowering of the vehicle. With the engine off, approach the brake pedal to approximately 2/3 of its travel and then slowly let it off. This is repeated until a firm pedal is achieved for properly seating the caliper pistons and brake pads. Lastly, top up the brake master cylinder reservoir with fresh break fluid to the proper limit and burnish the brake pads and discs.

    Q:
How to replace the front disc brake pads on the 1500 Series on GMC Yukon? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before installing new front disc brake pads on the 1500 series check the fluid level inside the brake master cylinder reservoir. The fluid level needs removal to the point halfway between maximum-full and minimum allowable limits. Start by lifting and securing the car before you remove the tire and wheel assembly. Tighten two large c-clamps placed over the caliper housing to pull in the pistons until they rest completely inside the caliper assembly. Loosen the lower brake caliper guide pin bolt with an open end wrench then remove the bolt while simultaneously using heavy mechanic wire to support the brake caliper to protect the hydraulic flexible brake hose. While propping up the caliper you should remove the mounting bracket's brake pads together with its spring clips. Wipe down the pad contact area of the caliper bracket with denatured alcohol while avoiding damage to the dust seals of the pistons. Brake Pad installation requires cleaning both Brake Caliper Piston faces and caliper housing from adhesive residue. Add a thin layer of high temperature silicone brake lubricant to the pad mating surfaces on the caliper bracket before putting in new spring clips when replacing brake pads or reinstalling the original clips when using existing pads. Align brake pads according to their original position before reinstalling the brake caliper onto its mounting bracket. An open end wrench should hold the caliper guide pin in place as you tighten the brake caliper guide pin bolt to 100 nm (74 lb ft). Place the tire assembly back on the vehicle and lower it down before slowly applying the brake pedal to around 2/3 of its range while you turn the engine off. The process should continue until pedal firmness is reached and brake master cylinder reservoir demands additional clean fluid for maintenance. Use a firm grip on the brake pedal for 30 seconds followed by another 30 seconds of pressure application to help the insulators of brake pads properly connect with the brake caliper pistons and caliper housing. After completing these steps you will burnish the brake pads as well as rotors.
