2007 Cadillac Escalade ESV Brake Pad Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the rear disc brake pads on the 2500 Series on 2007 Cadillac Escalade ESV?
A: To replace the rear disc brake pads on the 2500 series you first check the fluid level of your brake master cylinder reservoir; in the middle of the maximum and the minimum, no fluid needs to be emptied out, but if it created a higher level then empty the fluid up to half way. Lift and support the vehicle, more so remove off tire and wheel assembly. Compress the caliper piston with two large c-clamps, which should be spanned across the caliper housing onto the back portion of the outboard pad while tightening until the pistons are fully compressed. Support the brake caliper using some heavy mechanic wire while it is not fastened to its mount to avoid the damage of the hydraulic flexible brake hose. Take away the brake caliper guide pin bolts and the bracket and hold the bracket with the wire. Take the brake pads out of the caliper bracket, throwing away the retaining springs because they should not be used again. Check the brake caliper before you can install new Brake Pad retaining springs into the bracket of the caliper and then install the new brake pads. Mount the caliper back to the bracket and attach the brake caliper bolts with a torque reading of 108 n.m (80 lb ft). Set the tire and wheel assembly back in and lower the vehicle, and with the engine stopped, gradually apply the brake pedal to approximately two-thirds of its travel and then release it gradually. Wait for 15 seconds and repeat the same process until there is a firm pedal in order to seat the brake caliper perfectly and pistons as well as pads reached their respective position. If required, add clean brake fluid to the master cylinder reservoir to the correct level and burnish the pads and rotors.
