    Q:
How to replace the front disc brake pads on a 2500 Series on Cadillac Escalade? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before starting pad replacement on a 2500 series disc brake work begins by checking the brake master cylinder reservoir. If the brake fluid level sits above midpoint between maximum and minimum limits gets drained to match the midpoint. Lift the vehicle and take off the wheel and tire unit. Press down the brake caliper pistons through two large c-clamps that rest over the housing. Tighten them until they push all pistons completely back. Secure the brake caliper with heavy mechanic wire to shield the hydraulic hose as you take out its guide pin fasteners. The brake caliper needs to be taken off its bracket while keeping track of Brake Pad wear sensor placement when possible. Look for issues in the brake caliper before installing new springs for brake pads. Fix the new Brake Pad retaining springs to the caliper bracket and set the brake pads in place with wear sensor matching the instructions. Reinstall the wheel assembly and lower the vehicle while making sure the brake caliper guide pin bolts reach 108 n.m torque. When the engine is shut off apply the Brake Pedal to around 2/3 of its space and ease off the pedal slowly. Press down the Brake Pedal gradually several times until the brake performance feels strong enough to position the brake caliper pistons and pads correctly. After tightening all components you need to add clean brake fluid to the reservoir until it reaches the recommended level then perform Brake Pad and disc burnishing.
