  • Q: How to replace the LH secondary camshaft timing chain on 2007 Cadillac SRX?
    A: To remove the left Timing Chain, remove the right Timing Chain. Using the crankshaft socket (J 39946), turn the crank shaft such that primary timing gear marks coincide. Next, disconnect left Camshaft position actuator housing without removing the actuator solenoids. Apply the Camshaft holding tool (EN 46328) on the bank 2 (left) camshafts. Detach and remove the bolts from the left tensioner and the tensioner. Using an open-end wrench on the hex cast into the Camshaft, stop the rotation, and the bank 2 (left) exhaust Camshaft position oil control valve is removed, slide the left exhaust Camshaft position actuator (from the actuator teeth and remove the Timing Chain). Performing the same procedure for the bank 2 (left) intake Camshaft position oil control valve and actuator. Remove the left Timing Chain of the engine and clean and examine the Camshaft timing drive components. There is need to align the three black links with the corresponds to the timing marks on the bank 2 exhaust actuator, bank 2 intake actuator, and intermediate sprocket-track-writings against. Mount the Timing Chain onto the intermediate sprocket with appropriate alignment, and mount the intake actuator timed appropriately such that the timing mark on the actuator is aligned perpendicular to the cylinder head deck. Scruddle the oil control valve loosely and inse to 120 n.m (89 lb ft) without turning the Camshaft. Work through this for the exhaust actuator and oil control valve as well. Lastly, install the left Timing Chain Tensioner, the right Timing Chain, pull the Camshaft holding tool en46328, and refit the left Camshaft position actuator housing.
