2007 Cadillac STS Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the evaporator core on 2007 Cadillac STS?
A: Changing the Evaporator core starts by taking off the hvac module assembly followed by throwing away insulation components from the thermal expansion valve (TXV) before removing the hvac line clamp screw together with the clamp. Begin by taking off the txv to Evaporator bolts and txv line bracket and finally separate the txv from the Evaporator core through a straight pull motion before disposing all o-rings. Reset the hvac module retainer after disconnecting its thermistor electrical connector alongside the lh and auxiliary temperature actuator electrical connectors. Put the harness into position. By disengaging the retainers the front duct can be extracted from the hvac module and then unfastening the case to separate and take out the Evaporator core. The installation process requires refrigerant oil addition followed by correct seal installation on the Evaporator core yet avoid forcing the core into the hvac module to safeguard the thermistor. Secure the hvac module case halves when their alignment is correct by screwing them together to a torque of 1 n.m (8 lb in). The installer must reconnect all electrical connectors starting with the lh and auxiliary temperature actuators then the thermistor before reattachment of the front duct with engaged retainers and repositioning of the wire harness. First apply new o-rings to the Evaporator core and txv lines followed by a/c line connection to the txv and a slow txv core insertion until full seating. Secure both the txv line bracket and txv to Evaporator bolts at 3.5 n.m (31 lb in). You must install both the hvac line clamp and screw before tightening the screw to 1 n.m (8 lb in). After that, lay insulation over txv lines and the hvac module.
