• Q: How to replace the wiper arm on 2007 Cadillac STS?

  A: Begin the replacement by setting the wipers to park position and opening the hood. Install the driver side Wiper Arm when its tip lines up with the orange indicator at the center lower windshield edge. Put the passenger side Wiper Arm in place by matching it with the orange dot at the bottom edge of the windshield on the right side. Use the wrench to slide off the cove from each Wiper Arm end and continue by taking out the wiper nut from the drive spindle. Never force the liftgate/hood assist rod until the removal or attachment process is done to protect against damage. When disassembling the driver side Wiper Arm you must eliminate the upper hood assist rods from the assist rod ball studs and push the hood toward the air inlet grille panel while keeping it secure. Use tool j 39822 Wiper Arm puller to remove the Wiper Arm since it refuses to detach from the Wiper Arm drive spindle. Use a wire brush to clean the drive spindle knurls followed by taking off the Wiper Blade from the Wiper Arm. Fit the Wiper Blade onto the Wiper Arm before placing the passenger side Wiper Arm so its tip matches the orange dot and the driver side Wiper Arm so its tip matches the orange line. Keep the Wiper Arm in place as you tighten its nut (3, 6) on the Wiper Arm drive spindle to 35 n.m (26 lb ft). Secure the assist rod to its ball stud position and put on wiper skin nut plugs. After closing the hood check the wiper operation while making sure the driver side wiper stays within its proper area.
