Cadillac STS Wiper Arm Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the wiper arm on Cadillac STS?
A: First put the wipers in park position and uncover the hood assembly. Install the driver Wiper Blade on its orange alignment line near the lower center windshield and position the passenger Wiper Blade on its located orange dot at the bottom right corner of the windshield. Use tool 2,5 to remove the Wiper Arm nut caps on points 3,6. Continue by removing nuts 3,6 from the Wiper Arm spindle. When detaching the upper hood assist rods from their studs on the driver side Wiper Arm apply pressure at the end only to protect the assist rod. To support the hood structure place it backward on the grille panel to gain access to the air inlet. You can pull the Wiper Arm from its drive spindle using the Wiper Arm puller tool unless it still resists loosening. Brush the spindle driven knurls with fine wire before taking the Wiper Blade off the arm holder. To put it in place position the Wiper Arm with the blade tip touching the orange dot on the passenger side and the orange line on the driver side. Press the passenger and driver side wiper arms onto their drive spindles and fasten them using nut (3,6) with 35 n.m (26 lb ft) torque when the arms are placed correctly. Place the upper hood assist rods again onto their studs at the assist rod ball areas before putting on the Wiper Arm nut covers and closing the hood for a test run to check both wipers work correctly and stay within the wipe area.
