• Q: How to replace the windshield wiper arm on 2010 Cadillac STS?

  A: Enter park mode for the wipers then open the hood to start replacement work. Position both wipers correctly by matching the orange line on your driver side wiper against the orange dot at the blade tip at the lower windshield center and the orange dot on your passenger side wiper with its blade tip at the right lower windshield position. Uncover the Wiper Arm nuts on both sides before taking these nuts out from the Wiper Arm gear. Do not put pressure until the end of rod installation to prevent damage. To service the Wiper Arm on the driver side you should first disconnect the upper hood assist rods from their ball studs and then push the hood back toward the grille panel to support the hood. Use Wiper Arm puller j 39822 to remove the Wiper Arm when it stays firmly on the Wiper Arm drive spindle. Scrub the drive spindle knurls with a wire brush and take off the Wiper Blade from the Wiper Arm. To set up the wiper part, put the Wiper Blade on the Wiper Arm and adjust the passenger or driver side Wiper Arm so their wiper tip matches the orange guide. Put the Wiper Arm onto its mounting spindle and secure it by hand until fastening the nut (3, 6) with 35 nm (26 lb ft) torque. Slip the assist rod balls into their studs and fasten the hood fixture nuts before closing the hood portion. Check wiper performance by turning on washer fluid and windscreen wipers. Verify that the driver-side wiper does not reach past its programmed wiping range.
