2007 Chevrolet Aveo Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Heated Oxygen Sensor 1 (HO2S1) on 2007 Chevrolet Aveo?
A: To replace the heated Oxygen Sensor 1 (HO2S1), proceed by a detaching the negative cable of the battery, while taking care to do so in a gentle manner and also not removing the pigtail from the either the ho2s or the o2s, as this will interfere with the sensors operation. Leave the in-line electrical connector and the louvered end free from contaminants as well as refrain from the use of cleaning solvents. Replace the Oxygen Sensor if it has bad pigtail wiring or connector/terminal, since even attempts to fix it may block the air reference and would cause poor performance. Do not use contact cleaner on the sensor or vehicle harness connectors, to damage the sensor pig tail, dragging the lead wires or cutting off the ground wire, as this will cause performance issues. Make sure that the periphery seal of the vehicle harness connector is undamaged to protect from the entry of water and using packard's crimp and splice seals terminal repair kit if required without soldering. Remove the ho2s1 sensor from the Exhaust Manifold and disconnect the ho2s1 connector if the temperature is greater than 48°c (120°F), which makes it easier to be taken off. For installation apply anti-seize compound to the threads of ho2s1 any if needed, install to the Exhaust Manifold and tighten 42 n.m (31 lb ft). Finally, connect the ho2s1 connector and reconnect the negative cable of the battery.
