- Q: How to replace the positive and negative battery cables on a 6.0L engine on 2007 Chevrolet Corvette?A: First disconnect the negative cable lead from the battery while you should proceed with disconnecting the positive cable lead on a 6.0L engine. Begin by loosening the battery positive cable connector which secures to the fuse/relay center and detachment at the stud, before moving on to disconnecting the battery ground cable at its stud. Raise and support the vehicle after which you will disconnect the battery positive/negative cable to engine bolt and the positive battery cable to starter solenoid nut from the stud. Take the battery positive and negative cables out from the designated positions inside the vehicle. During installation, place the battery positive/negative cable on the vehicle while following the procedure to mount the positive battery cable on the stud and the positive battery cable to starter solenoid nut, tighten it to 10 N.m (89 lb in). After placing the negative battery cable in position you should tighten the battery positive/negative cable at the engine bolt to 40 N.m (30 lb ft). Lower the vehicle before installing the battery ground cable while tightening its nut to 8 N.m (71 lb in). Secure the battery positive cable on the stud before attaching it to the fuse/relay center nut and tighten it up to 10 N.m (89 lb in). Secure the positive cable lead to the battery and fasten the battery positive cable to battery nut to 8 N.m (71lb in), and connect the negative cable lead to the battery terminal.
