2007 Chevrolet Corvette Rocker Shaft Spring Kit Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Rocker Shaft Spring Kit and valve stem oil seal on 2007 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: You have to take out the valve rocker arms plus Spark Plug before you can change the Valve Stem Oil Seal and valve spring. Put the Spark Plug port adapter j 22794 into the Spark Plug opening then connect an Air Hose to it. Twist a plastic tool against the valve stem tip to remove any deposits from its locking mechanisms. Apply the j 38606 (Valve Spring Compressor) to collapse the valve spring before taking off the valve stem keys. Slowly let the valve spring tension go during j 38606 removal. Unfasten and take off the valve spring cap and spring plus the Valve Stem Oil Seal and shim. Clean the valve spring seat and oil path thoroughly before seating the valve seal and spacer to stop oil wastage and decrease vehicle emissions. Put engine oil on the valve guide and Valve Stem Oil Seal before fitting the oil seal onto the valve stem until it meets the valve guide. Place the compressed valve spring onto j 38606 and put it on the cylinder head. Use grease to secure valve stem keys on the valve spring cap during valve stem installation after removing j 38606 tool. Raise the j 38606 as you insert the valve stem keys into their grooves on the valve stem. Slowly remove valve spring tension and take out the j 38606. Use a plastic-faced hammer to seat the keys if they do not fit properly into the valve stem groove. Turn off and take out the Air Hose from the j 22794 before pulling it out from the Spark Plug hole. Measure the valve springs' installed height from bottom to top to see if it reaches 46.25 mm. If it exceeds this limit, add a 0.5 mm smear. Set up the valve springs to claim at least 46.25 mm (1.82 in) in height. End by connecting and installing the j 22794 Air Hose before placing the Spark Plug in position and returning the valve rocker arms.
