2007 Chevrolet Equinox Air Bag Clockspring Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Replace the Air Bag Clockspring Assembly on 2007 Chevrolet Equinox?
A: The first step to replace the air bag clock spring assembly (SIR coil assembly) requires front wheel alignment along with Steering Wheel centering. You should disable sir first then unmount the inflatable restraint Steering Wheel before you remove the Steering Wheel and column covers. Use a small flat-blade tool to free the sir coil harness clips from their bracket position below the column before disconnecting the sir coil and horn/cruise connectors. A small flat-bladed tool must gently lift retaining tabs from the air bag clock spring assembly before you can remove it from the steering column. To mount the sir assembly first direct both the wiring harness and horn/cruise connector through the steering column before snapping the sir coil into its place. Next reconnect the sir coil to its electrical connectors while reinstalling the wiring harness clips to their bracket. Reinstall the Steering Wheel and steering column covers. Installation of the inflatable restraint Steering Wheel module must be followed by enabling the sir system.
