Chevrolet Equinox Air Bag Clockspring Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the Air Bag Clockspring in the steering wheel module on Chevrolet Equinox?
A: In order to replace the air bag clock spring, first, align the front wheels straight and the Steering Wheel to the center as the new sir coil assembly will be centered to avoid any cases of damage and malfunctions. Turn off the sir system, after which remove the air bag clock spring, steering wheel, and steering column covers. Release the sir coil harness clips from the bracket under the column and disconnect the sir coil and horn/cruise connectors. Carefully pry the retaining tabs away from the sir coil assembly with a small flat-bladed tool to slide the assembly off the steering column. In the case of installation, the sir wiring harness as well as the horn/cruise connector are to be routed down the steering column and the removing of yellow tab for the new roll connector after the installation of the Steering Wheel. Remove the air bag clock spring from the packaging, snap it into position, connect the sir coil and horn/cruise electrical connectors, and hook the wiring harness clips below the column to the bracket. Replace the steering column covers, the Steering Wheel, and the air bag clock spring, and then allow the sir system.
