2009 Chevrolet Equinox Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Remove and Replace the Air Bag Clockspring Assembly on 2009 Chevrolet Equinox?
A: Start with front wheel alignment and Steering Wheel centering before beginning the removal process of air bag clock spring assembly / spiral cable. Disable the sir system. Start by taking off the inflatable restraint Steering Wheel module and following with removal of the Steering Wheel. Move the steering column covers aside before releasing the sir coil harness clips from their seat beneath the steering column. Remove the connections of sir coil with horn/cruise. Use a small flat-bladed tool to carefully release the sir coil assembly retaining tabs before pulling it off the steering column. You must run the sir wiring harness and horn/cruise connector down the steering column before putting the sir coil into position and connecting the sir coil and horn/cruise electrical connectors. Secure wiring harness clips onto the bracket under the column before putting on steering column covers and Steering Wheel. Finish up by installing the inflatable restraint Steering Wheel module before turning on the sir system.
