    Q: How to replace the Brake Light Switch on Chevrolet Equinox?
    A: The replacing process for the cruise release switch starts with removing the instrument panel left lower closeout panel followed by disconnecting the cruise brake switch connector. The process begins with counterclockwise rotation of the cruise brake switch to separate it from the switch retainer. Depressing the Brake Pedal will make the operation easier. You should remove the cruise brake retainer from the Brake Pedal assembly while compressing its locking tabs carefully. Apply the retainer installation when placing the indexing arrow in the right direction with both retainer ears positioned at the back side of the bracket. Position the cruise brake switch retainer into the upper hole of the Brake Pedal assembly with the arrow pointing toward 3 o'clock but keep away from the Brake Pedal to prevent brake drag. Insert the cruise brake switch into the retainer until its plunger fully presses down while the electrical connector index notch points to 1 o'clock position before turning the switch clockwise to the travel stop at around 60 degrees. Evaluate the switch position by ensuring that it fits correctly with the electrical connector index at 3 o'clock. The installer should connect the cruise brake switch connector and replace the instrument panel left lower closeout panel before using a scan tool to check the cruise brake switch state in the Engine Control Module (ECM) general information data table for accurate applied and released readings while operating the Brake Pedal.
