2007 Chevrolet Express 2500 A/C Accumulator Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Accumulator in an A/C system on 2007 Chevrolet Express 2500?
A: The first step to replace the accumulator consists of recovering refrigerant from the a/c system. You should remove the Coolant Reservoir and sever the connection between the electrical connector and the a/c low pressure sensor. You should start by taking out the nut securing the evaporator outlet hose to the accumulator and later the nut for the compressor inlet hose. The accumulator comes out when you remove its retaining screw from the retaining bracket and also remove the accumulator along with sealing washers. Before installation of the new accumulator you must fill it with the specified pag oil amount. Fasten the screw at the accumulator retaining bracket and secure it to 9 n.m (80 lb in) torque. Connect the low pressure sensor electrical connector followed by installing new sealing washers before you put on the evaporator outlet hose. The technician must first apply 16 n.m (12 lb ft) torque to the evaporator outlet hose retaining nut on the accumulator then complete the installation of the compressor inlet hose with its retaining nut at the same torque. The last step involves replacing the Coolant Reservoir and performing a/c system evacuation plus recharging along with halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) testing for fitting leaks.
