2007 Chevrolet Express 2500 Evaporator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Replace an Evaporator Core on 2007 Chevrolet Express 2500?
A: The first step to replace an Evaporator core requires removal of refrigerant from the a/c system. Start by removing the coolant recovery reservoir before disconnecting the low pressure sensor electrical connector along with the Blower Motor assembly electrical connector and the Blower Motor resistor assembly electrical connector. The service procedure begins with removing the retaining nut from the Evaporator inlet tube followed by the Evaporator inlet tube retaining screw before extracting both components along with the o-ring seal. Following removal of the retaining nut you can pull out the accumulator and its attached o-ring seal. First disconnect the blower module assembly screws and pull out the blower module assembly before removing the Evaporator core from the Evaporator and blower module assembly. The specified amount of pag oil needs direct installation before the replacement of an Evaporator core. Repairs begin with installing the new Evaporator before adding the Evaporator and blower module assembly then tighten it with the retaining screws. Secure the accumulator to the Evaporator before tightening its retaining nut to 18 n.m (13 lb ft). The Evaporator requires installation with the retaining nut that should reach 16 n.m (12 lb ft) torque while using the Evaporator inlet tube retaining screw. Reattach the electrical components for the Blower Motor resistor assembly and Blower Motor assembly in addition to the low pressure sensor assembly electrical connector. The last step involves reinstalling the coolant recovery reservoir followed by a/c system evacuation and recharging and examining component fittings using the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A).
