2007 Chevrolet Impala Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the fuel rail assembly on 2007 Chevrolet Impala?
A: The first step for Fuel Rail assembly replacement includes noting the 8-digit identification number found on the Fuel Rail for future servicing or part replacement needs. Proper installation of Fuel Injector o-rings comes with safety benefits by preventing fuel leaks and reducing fire risks as well as injury threats; distribute the black o-ring above the brown one whenever the rings have different colors. Service requires installing caps on the fittings while plugging holes to avoid contaminating the system. Fuel injector leakage will result in fuel contamination that affects engine oil. Start by taking off the electrical connectors from the Fuel Rail before removing its fuel feed pipe followed by the upper Intake Manifold removal. The Fuel Injector harness connector bracket bolt requires removal from the Intake Manifold before disconnecting both the camshaft position (CMP) sensor electrical connector and engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor electrical connector. Untwist the Fuel Rail bolts while extracting the Fuel Rail component and eliminate the o-ring positioned at the injector spray tip end from each injector before disposal of any destroyed o-rings. Be careful while unwinding fuel injectors because electrical connector pins and nozzles can become damaged when removing them and avoid putting injectors in any cleaning solution. Pull out the Fuel Injector retaining clip while also taking off the Fuel Injector which should be removed from the Fuel Rail along with the Fuel Injector upper o-ring. To obtain replacement fuel injectors order the correct part number marked on the device. Handle new injector o-rings with clean engine oil and install the Fuel Injector upper o-ring if applicable. After that install the Fuel Injector to the Fuel Rail and keep the Fuel Injector retaining clip in place depending on requirements. Service personnel must handle fuel system parts carefully while dealing with electrical connectors and o-rings and they should use inlet and outlet port plugs to protect against harmful contaminants. Utilization of compressed air and solvent baths should be avoided since they can harm the Fuel Rail assembly components. Place the Fuel Rail assembly into the Intake Manifold by making a slight tilt movement to install the injectors before lubricating any necessary lower injector o-rings with clean engine oil. Tighten the Fuel Rail bolts to 10 n.m (89 lb in) before you join the cmp sensor electrical connector along with the ect sensor electrical connector. Implement the Fuel Injector harness connector bracket into the Intake Manifold then thread in the bracket bolt before torquing it to 8 n.m (71 lb in). Fasten the upper Intake Manifold before reattaching electrical connectors and uniting the fuel feed pipe to the Fuel Rail and reconnecting the negative Battery Cable. A leak inspection should be conducted after switching the ignition on for two seconds followed by shutting it off for 10 seconds and checking for leaks when turning it on again.
