2007 Chevrolet Impala Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Steering Angle Sensor on 2007 Chevrolet Impala?
A: To service and repair Steering angle Sensor, the first step is to identify the type of steering wheel position sensor based on illustrations presented. The FRONT of the sensor connector will be on the right. If the use of the existing sensor is only done, you do not need to center it before removing it. Start by unscrew the connector from the sensor and unplug the sensor from the adapter and the bearing assembly. Make an alignment mark on the flush rotor flange cuff if reusing the existing sensor when installing the sensor because misalignment due to failure to make this mark will occur. To install, make sure that the sensor is aligned with the steering shaft and place it in the adapter and bearing assembly, making sure that the connector is securely attached. The FRONT of the sensor will include a foam ring , a pin hole for the centering pin, aflush Rotor flange cuff, and an alignment mark. If the same sensor is re-used, align marks from the flush rotor flange cuff and put it in alignment until it seats after installation. If a newly installed sensor will be installed it will have a pin that should not be removed until the sensor is seated. The BACK of the sensor will have double D flats , a foam ring and an alignment tab for proper installation into adapter and Bearing assembly. Repeat the process of alignment and installation as much as needed on each sensor, do not fail to record the particular features of alignment marks so that you can imagine installation.
