2007 Chevrolet Malibu Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Condenser in the HVAC system on 2007 Chevrolet Malibu?
A: The first step when replacing a condenser in an hvac system requires checking for leaks using the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A). To start the project recover all refrigerant first and uninstall both headlamps on the left and right sides. Tie rope to each upper Radiator tab, loop them through the upper tie bar and afterward detach upper Radiator support bracket bolts and upper Radiator support brackets. Elevate the vehicle and take out the lower Radiator air deflector retainers and deflectors. The right front fender liner and right along with left Radiator air deflectors need removal along with their specific retainers. First disconnect the condenser's liquid line and compressor hose bolt before taking out the compressor hose and liquid line from the condenser. Remove both lower Radiator mounting bracket bolts and discard the mounting brackets as well as condenser mounting bolts and nuts. Before removing the condenser install caps to all a/c parts to prevent contamination. Next use upward motion on the Radiator and downward motion on the condenser to unsnap the mounting tabs before removing the condenser and upper seal. To install the system begin by uncapping the a/c components and installing new sealing washers together with an upper seal after checking if you need to add specified pag(R) oil directly to the condenser unit. When installing the air side seals to condenser tabs place them into Radiator holder clips before using the specific bolt length to secure them while avoiding end tank damage. Reinstall the condenser mounting bolts using 6 n.m (53 lb in) torque. Bend the Radiator air side seals into the intake air splash shields for optimized airflow before installing both lower Radiator mounting brackets and bolts that require a 60 n.m (44 lb ft) torque. The condenser connections between liquid line and compressor hose need to be attached and secured through well-tightened bolts reaching 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Begin Radiator air deflector setup with their retainers followed by right front fender liner setup together with lower Radiator air deflector retainers. First lower the vehicle before you remove the rope and install both upper Radiator support brackets then bolt them down with 10 n.m (89 lb in) of torque. As the last step install both right and left headlamps. Then evacuate and charge the refrigerant system followed by a leak test with the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A).
