2007 Chevrolet Malibu Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the evaporator core on 2007 Chevrolet Malibu?
A: Start the Evaporator core replacement by first removing the hvac module assembly followed by the lower center floor air outlet duct screws and upper center floor air outlet duct itself. The first step involves taking out screws from the air inlet assembly which you will follow by removing the inlet assembly itself before moving on to the air temperature actuator screws and actuator. The process starts with removing screws from the mode actuator and actuator before drilling out the mode valve assembly heat stakes and removing all mode valve assembly screws. The technician drills out the heat stakes on the lower hvac module case followed by removing the case screws to extract the module case components. Start by detaching the thermal expansion valve screws together with the valve while discarding sealing washers before you can remove the Evaporator. Installation of a new Evaporator requires the addition of pag(R) oil directly to it before installing the Evaporator with new sealing washers followed by the thermal expansion valve and its screws tightened to 7 n.m (62 lb in). Replace the lower hvac module case along with its screws by torquing them to 1.5 n.m (13 lb in). After installing the mode valve assembly mount its screws while tightening to 1.5 n.m (13 lb in). Next comes installation of the mode actuator assembly with its screws while also applying 1.5 n.m (13 lb in) of torque. First install the air temperature actuator after which install its screws while tightening them to 1.5 n.m (13 lb in). Reinstall the air inlet assembly by tightening its screws to 1.5 n.m (13 lb in). The installation sequence includes placing upper center floor air outlet duct along with its screws then tighten to 1.5 n.m (13 lb in) followed by lower center floor air outlet duct then installing hvac module assembly.
