2006 Chevrolet Malibu Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the evaporator core on 2006 Chevrolet Malibu?
A: The replacement of an Evaporator core requires first detaching the hvac module assembly followed by removal of the lower center floor air outlet duct with its screws before removing the upper center floor air outlet duct. The first step involves screwing out the air inlet assembly before removing it followed by removing the air temperature actuator screws and allowing removal of the actuator itself as well as extracting the mode actuator screws and the actuator. Heat stakes should be removed to access both the mode valve assembly screws and the lower hvac module case screws that lead to the case extraction. Discard the filtering washers as you move forward to uninstall the thermal expansion valve along with its screws from the system. To install the Evaporator replace it with pag® oil according to specified amounts while also installing new sealing washers. Put the thermal expansion valve into position before tightening its screws to 7 n.m (62 lb in). After that, put in the lower hvac module case and secure it with screws to 1.5 n.m (13 lb in). Install the mode valve assembly and its screws at 1.5 n.m (13 lb in) torque while next install the mode actuator with its screws receiving the same torque setting of 1.5 n.m (13 lb in). After fixing the air temperature actuator the technician must tighten its screws to 1.5 n.m (13 lb in), followed by installation of the air inlet assembly while securing its screws to 1.5 n.m (13 lb in). Conclusion of installation requires the upper center floor air outlet duct with screws at 1.5 n.m (13 lb in) before adding the lower center floor air outlet duct and completing installation of the hvac module assembly.
