How to replace the alternator on 2007 GMC Savana 2500?

The battery must be disconnected before auxiliary generator replacement can begin. The first step involves taking out the Drive Belt along with the upper Fan Shroud. Disconnect the auxiliary generator electrical connector followed by removing the positive cable through its boot sliding action to reveal the terminal stud while unfastening the positive cable nut before removing the cable itself. Start by unscrewing the three bolts holding the auxiliary generator then remove the generator component. The auxiliary generator setup requires users to position the unit first before securing the three bolts which need to be tightened to 50 n.m (37 lb ft). Install the positive cable nut first before fitting the positive cable at its terminal stud position while maintaining a torque of 9 n.m (80 lb in). Finally, reposition the boot over the terminal stud. Complete the generator electrical connection before you return the Drive Belt and install the upper shroud.
