- Q: How to replace the Parking Brake Cable on the rear right side (J65) on 2008 Buick LaCrosse?A: Vehicle support and elevation at the first step for replacing right side parking brake rear cable (J65). Detach the tire and assembly from the rear position. You should disconnect the cable which attaches to the rear suspension support assembly's equalizer. The j 37043 Parking Brake Cable release tool should be used to push down the retaining tabs on the park brake cable that lies closest to the equalizer. First uninstall the caliper guide bolts from the rear brake caliper before removing it from the bracket. You should use the wheel opening to pull out the loose end of the Parking Brake Cable. Adjust the caliper with the convex surface down until its lower guide hole lines up with the upper bracket hole. Pass the guide pin bolt from the lower caliper guide pin hole until it reaches the upper caliper guide pin hole in the bracket to maintain the caliper structure. Adjust the Parking Brake Cable end in the caliper lever to reveal one of its three retainer tabs in the visible window of the lever. A screwdriver's tab insertion through the caliper lever window allows tilting of the cable elbow toward the vehicle's front while pulling the cable end out of the caliper lever. Remove the park brake cable which connects to the vehicle throughout the procedure. To install the park brake cable begin by placing it inside the vehicle and then position the fitting end at the caliper lever where all locking tabs must be securely set. Drive the opposite cable end into the wheel opening which leads toward the rear support assembly. Replace the brake caliper after positioning it correctly by tightening,cp guide bolts to 34 n.m (25 lb ft). The equalizer nut installed to the equalizer stud extends from the equalizer assembly while you use it to pull cable slack through the equalizer.
