2008 Buick Lucerne Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Condenser on 2008 Buick Lucerne?
A: Before air conditioning condenser replacement start by using Halogen Leak Detector (J 39400-A) to recover the refrigerant. The first step requires removal of the front compartment sight shield and the hood latch support. Start by removing the discharge hose nut and liquid line and suction hose nut from the condenser before pulling out and discarding the suction hose sealing washers. Once you remove the condenser lines to radiator mounting bolt and the condenser mounting bolts the condenser will become free to extract from the radiator retainer and the vehicle. Add refrigerant oil to the new condenser before installing it into the radiator retainer using condenser mounting bolts tightened to 9 N.m (80 lb in). Reinstall the condenser line through the radiator mounting bolt using the existing bracket and tighten the bolt to 6 N.m (53 lb in). Place new sealing washers and attach the suction hose with its nut until the nut reaches 16 N.m pressure (12 lb ft torque). Attach the liquid line and its nut then string them to 16 N.m tension while also tightening to 12 lb ft torque. Put back the hood latch bracket then recharge the air conditioning system while performing leak testing through a Halogen Leak Detector (J 39400-A). Dismount the front compartment sight shield as the final step.
