• Q: How to replace the upper intake manifold on 2008 Buick Lucerne?

  A: To replace the upper Intake Manifold, remove the air cleaner outlet duct, remove the Fuel Rail assembly. Next, remove the Brake Booster Vacuum Hose from upper Intake Manifold outlet, and remove the evap quick connect, pipe from the purge solenoid. After that, uninstall the engine wiring harness heat shield nut and bolt and the heat shield itself. Remove the upper Intake Manifold bolts and studs, and then extract the upper Intake Manifold. If changing the Intake Manifold, loosen the retainer and take the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor, followed by the evap purge solenoid bolt and solenoid. Unscrew Throttle Body upper bolts, remove the Throttle Body lower nuts and pull out the Throttle Body. Compress the sides of vacuum fitting to uninstall the retainers and pull it away, then dispose of the o-ring seal and slide the Intake Manifold gasket crew off from the top Intake Manifold. For implementation, attach the Intake Manifold gasket carrier onto the upper Intake Manifold, install a new vacuum fitting o-ring seal to the vacuum fitting, and squeeze the sides of the vacuum fitting together to attach it.   reinstall the Throttle Body and tighten its upper bolts then the lower Throttle Body nuts but do so to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Next, install the evap purge solenoid and bolt, enforce the bolt to 10 n.m (89 lb in), and MAP Sensor. Put the upper Intake Manifold back and fasten with bolts and studs, by tightening to 10 n.m (89 lb in) in a preset sequence. Reconnect the engine wiring harness heat shield and bolt in using a nut and bolt, tightening it to 10 n.m (89 lb.in). Coordinate the evap pipe quick connect fitting to the purge solenoid, install Brake Booster Vacuum Hose to upper Intake Manifold fitting, then reinstall Fuel Rail assembly and finally the air cleaner outlet duct.
