• Q: How to replace the upper intake manifold on 2007 Buick Lucerne?

  A: To change the upper Intake Manifold, start with a detachment of the air cleaner outlet duct and then the Fuel Rail assemble. Then disconnect Brake Booster Vacuum Hose from the top Intake Manifold fitting and take evaporative emission (EVAP) pipe quick connect fitting from purge solenoid. Take off the nut and the bolt from the engine wiring harness heat shield and remove the engine wiring harness heat shield. Go on and remove the upper Intake Manifold bolts and studs before removing the upper Intake Manifold. If replacing the Intake Manifold, remove retainers, map, sensor, and evap purge solenoid bolt and solenoid. Remove the Throttle Body upper bolts by loosening them, remove Throttle Body lower nuts and remove Throttle Body. Take the sides of the vacuum fitting and push them to come off and then take it off and then throw away the o-ring seal and take of the Intake Manifold gasket carrier off the upper Intake Manifold. For installation, the Intake Manifold gasket carrier shall mount to the upper Intake Manifold and install a new vacuum fitting o-ring seal and squeezing the sides of the vacuum fitting to install it. Replace the Throttle Body with the Throttle Body and tighten the Throttle Body upper bolts, after that install Throttle Body lower nuts and tighten them to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Next, install the evap purge solenoid and bolt, and tighten the bolt to 10 n.m (89 lb in), then the MAP Sensor. Install the upper Intake Manifold with the upper Intake Manifold bolts and studs while tightening them to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Connect the wiring harness heat shield and tighten with a nut and bolt to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Attach the evap pipe quick connect fitting to purge solenoid, reinstall the Brake Booster Vacuum Hose to the upper Intake Manifold fitting, reinstall the retaining Fuel Rail assembly and final the air cleaner outlet duct.
