• Q: How to replace the left side catalytic converter (LY7 - Gas, 6 Cylinder, 3.6L, SFI, V6) on 2008 Cadillac SRX?

  A: To replace the left side Catalytic Converter for the left bank 6 engine, 3.6l/2, ly7- gas (Root notes and changes) sfi v6, remove the left bank exhaust manifold heat shield. Then, to detach the Catalytic Converter, remove the nuts, and lift the vehicle and support it. Eliminate the Oxygen Sensor electrical connection and the muffler pipe from both the left and right side catalytic converters. Take off the Exhaust Pipe fasteners connecting the right bank Catalytic Converter, then carefully remove this Catalytic Converter combined with the seal/heat shield and then the Oxygen Sensor from the exhaust manifold. Back out the Oxygen Sensor connection from the cats on the sides. When it comes to the installation, one should attach the Oxygen Sensor to the Catalytic Converter and specify about checking the Catalytic Converter seal/heat shield seal in the sealing surface for wear or damage - it should be changed in case it is worn or broken. Mount the seal/heat shield to the Catalytic Converter, and with caution, mount the Catalytic Converter to the exhaust into position, securing it to the exhaust manifold with the Catalytic Converter nuts. Join back the Oxygen Sensor electric connector, and attach the muffler pipes from the left and the right side catalytic converters, attaching the muffler nuts at 22 n.m (16 lb ft).
