• Q: How to replace the right side catalytic converter on 2009 Cadillac SRX?

  A: For replacing the right side Catalytic Converter, start by removing the right bank exhaust manifold heat shield. Next, take out the nuts of the Catalytic Converter and lift and support the vehicle. If the vehicle has awd, take off the front driveshaft. Remove the Oxygen Sensor electrical connector and muffler pipe on the left and right side catalytic converters. Pull out the fastener for the Exhaust Pipe joining the right bank Catalytic Converter then carefully extract the Catalytic Converter with the seal/heat shield and Oxygen Sensor from the exhaust manifold on the right hand side. Pull the Oxygen Sensor from the Catalytic Converter. To install first attach the Oxygen Sensor to the Catalytic Converter but do inspect the area of the Catalytic Converter seal/heat shield sealing, and replace it if it is worn out or damaged. Mount the Catalytic Converter seal/heat shield to the Catalytic Converter and carefully hook the Catalytic Converter onto the exhaust manifold and tighten the fasteners. Reconnect the Oxygen Sensor electrical connecter, and inspect the Catalytic Converter seal and replace if needed. The left and right side converters should be connected to the muffler pipes with the muffler nuts tightening to 22 nm (16 lb ft). In cases of awd, replace the front driveshaft. Lower the vehicle and tighten Catalytic Converter nuts until they reach 50 nm (37 lb ft). Lastly, reinstall the right bank muffler heat shield.
