2008 Cadillac SRX Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Power Steering Reservoir for the LY7 Gas 6 Cylinder 3.6L SFI V6 on 2008 Cadillac SRX?
A: The process of replacing the remote power steering reservoir in LY7 vehicles with Gas, 6 Cylinder, 3.6L, SFI, V6 starts with removing front air deflectors and setting drain pans under the vehicle as necessary. You must drain all possible power steering fluid from the reservoir by removing the air cleaner inlet duct and reservoir drain. The reservoir needs removing from the vehicle after unbolting it and separating both the power steering cooler outer hose and outlet hose from the reservoir unit. Position the new reservoir in place then fasten it using bolts where the smaller bolt needs to be tightened to 10 N.m (89 lb in) and the larger bolt to be tightened to 40 N.m (30 lb ft). Reattach the power steering cooler outer hose along with the outlet hose while cleaning residual fluid and removing drain pans. After installing the front air deflector and air cleaner inlet duct it is necessary to complete power steering system filling and bleeding process.
