2009 Cadillac SRX Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Power Steering Reservoir (LY7) (3.6L) on 2009 Cadillac SRX?
A: One must begin replacement of the remote power steering reservoir (LY7) (3.6L) by taking out the front air deflector followed by placing drain pans underneath the vehicle based on need. The air cleaner inlet duct requires removal for completing the reservoir drain of power steering fluid. First disconnect the power steering cooler outer hose and outlet hose from the reservoir and then remove the bolts securing this part before taking out the reservoir from the vehicle. To install the new reservoir you must first position it properly before securing the bolts with the small one tightened to 10 Nm (89 lb in) and the larger one to 40 Nm (30 lb ft). Connect the outlet hose and the power steering cooler outer hose and remove all fluid residue before taking out drain pans. Completion of the front air deflector and air cleaner inlet duct installation precedes filling up the power steering system while bleeding it out.
