• Q: How to replace the Steering Angle Sensor or Steering Shaft Lower Bearing on 2009 Cadillac SRX?

  A: In order to replace the Steering Angle Sensor or Steering Shaft lower bearing, first of all, disable the sir system. You will remove the Steering Column from the vehicle afterwards without removing the turn signal switch housing and the tilt spring. Precision j 21854-01 at removing 2 pivot pins from the Steering Column support assembly and removing boot seal. In the absence of sensor, remove the Steering Shaft seal and the sensor retainer; when the sensor is on the seats, remove the sensor locator and the sensor assembly. If the sensor is not there, install the sensor retainer and the Steering Shaft seal for installation. If the sensor is present, set the sensor assembly at the 9 o'clock position, then set up the sensor locator, and the boot seal. Next, fit the Steering Shaft assembly into Steering Column tilt head assembly, then fit the tilt head assembly and the Steering Shaft into the Steering Column jacket assembly. Replace the Steering Column support assembly if it has been staken 3 times. Lubricate the pivot pins on the gm p/n 12346293 and install the 2 pivot pins on the Steering Column support assembly, staking the pin on the 3 locations. The tilt spring assembly should then be installed followed by the turn signal switch assembly, the top portion assembly, and finally re-installing the Steering Column back into the vehicle. Turn on and install the sir system after installation.
