2008 Cadillac STS Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Expansion Valve on 2008 Cadillac STS?
A: The first step to replace the thermal expansion valve (TXV) requires hvac module removal. Remove the insulation layers from the txv before disposing of them. First detach the hvac line clamp while uninstalling its screw and then unscrew the txv fixings that fasten it to the Evaporator. The txv line bracket needs removal before pulling the txv directly out of the Evaporator core to disconnect it from the a/c lines. The installation process includes applying lubricant to o-rings before attaching a/c lines to the txv followed by a slow insertion of the txv onto the Evaporator core until it reaches full seat position. Use the bolts to connect the txv to the Evaporator while securing it with the txv line bracket then tighten decisively to 3.5 n.m (31 lb in). Reinstall the hvac line clamp afterward tightening its clamp screw to 1 n.m (8 lb in). Reinstall the hvac module while adding new insulation insulation to the lines as well as the txv. Utilize the j 39400-a halogen leak detector if needed while executing the procedure.
