    Q:
How to properly install an A/C Expansion Valve on Cadillac CTS? Posted by Customer
    A:
Starting the air conditioning Evaporator thermal expansion valve replacement requires first removing the hvac module. Before disposal the insulation should be taken off from the thermal expansion valve (TXV). The replacement of the air conditioning Evaporator thermal expansion valve begins by unscrewing the hvac line clamp screw and hvac line clamp. The process ends with taking out the bolts that fasten the txv to the Evaporator. Pull the txv straight out from the Evaporator core by detaching the line bracket until it separates from the a/c lines. Apply lubrication on the o-rings before connecting the lines to the txv and gently slide the txv onto the Evaporator core until it reaches full position. Mount the txv line bracket on the Evaporator core while following the specified fastener precautionary steps. Use bolts with torque of 3.5 nm (31 lb in) to secure the txv to the Evaporator. Reattach the hvac line clamp by fastening the clamp screw to 1 nm (8 lb in). To complete the installation you should reinstall the hvac module followed by new insulation applied to the affected lines and txv.

    Q:
How to replace the A/C Expansion Valve on Cadillac CTS? Posted by Customer
    A:
The halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) should be used first to check for leaks before you start to replace the thermal expansion valve (TXV). The first step requires removal of the instrument panel (I/P) carrier. Proceed by removing the insulation from the txv device before throwing it away. The hvac line clamp screw and clamp need removal. The procedure starts with removing the txv from the Evaporator by unfastening its securing bolts before taking out the txv line bracket. Take the txv directly from its position between the a/c lines before removing it completely. Prior to attaching a/c lines to the txv recipients must apply lubrication on the o-rings. Insert the txv onto the Evaporator core and complete installation when it reaches full seat position. Then mount the txv line bracket. The installation requires you to set the txv Evaporator bolts at 3.5 n.m (31 lb in) while tightening them. Secure the hvac line clamp with its screw by tightening it to 1 n.m force (8 lb in measurement). New insulation must be applied to the lines and txv before reinstalling the instrument panel carrier.

    Q:
How to replace the A/C Expansion Valve on Cadillac STS? Posted by Customer
    A:
The initial step before changing the air conditioning Evaporator thermal expansion valve consists of removing the hvac module. Discard the insulation material which wraps the thermal expansion valve (TXV) after you remove it. Start the replacement by removing the hvac line clamp screw followed by the hvac line clamp. After that disconnect the bolts which hold the txv to the Evaporator. Pull the txv straight out from the Evaporator core by detaching the txv line bracket while separating it from the a/c lines. Start by lubricating the o-rings before inserting the a/c lines through the txv and sliding the txv onto the Evaporator core until proper positioning. After installation of the txv line bracket use caution to follow fastener guidelines. Affix the txv to the Evaporator using bolts which should be tightened to 3.5 nm (31 lb in). Afterwards return the hvac line clamp and secure its screw to 1 nm (8 lb in). After reinstalling the hvac module technicians should put new insulation on top of the lines and txv.
