2009 Cadillac CTS Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Expansion Valve on 2009 Cadillac CTS?
A: The replacement of the air conditioning Evaporator thermal expansion valve begins by removing the hvac module first. Remove the insulation covering the thermal expansion valve (TXV) and throw it away afterwards. First disconnect the hvac line clamp by unscrewing its clamp screw and removable clamp before removing the bolts securing the txv to the Evaporator. The txv line bracket should be detached before pulling the txv straight out of the Evaporator core so that it can separate from both a/c lines. Apply lubrication to the o-rings followed by joining the a/c lines to the txv then inserting the txv to the Evaporator core until it reaches full position. Install the txv line bracket following all fastener safety protocol. To install the txv onto the Evaporator, use bolts with torque set to 3.5 nm (31 lb in) followed by reinstallation of the hvac line clamp secured with 1 nm (8 lb in) torque. The hvac module needs to be reinstalled followed by the application of new insulation on both the lines and txv unit.
