2009 Cadillac CTS Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the air conditioning evaporator core on 2009 Cadillac CTS?
A: The first step to replace an air conditioning Evaporator core requires hvac module assembly removal. Follow this step by removing insulation from the txv valve and then remove the hvac clamp screw and clamp. Detach the txv to Evaporator bolts then disconnect the txv line bracket before using force to extract the txv directly out from the a/c lines for removal. The procedure involves removing the case while unscrewing and unclipping it to disconnect the thermistor electrical connector. This allows you to separate the hvac module and remove the thermistor from the Evaporator core followed by the Evaporator core itself. The installation requires you to add refrigerant oil while installing fresh Evaporator core seals afterward you should replace the Evaporator core into its proper position. The thermistor gets reinstalled on the Evaporator in its original placement before assembling the hvac module while applying the screws that keep the case together and tightening them to 1 nm (8 lb in) before adding the clips. The thermal connector goes into the txv while the technicians apply a small amount of refrigerant oil to a/c lines before their installation. Place the txv on the Evaporator core while being cautious about proper seating and then put on the txv line bracket. Screw in the txv to Evaporator bolts at 3.5 nm (31 lb in) torque specification before installing the hvac line clamp along with its screw tightened to 1 nm (8 lb in). The hvac module installation requires the replacement of insulation on the lines and txv before securely attaching the module.
