2008 Cadillac CTS Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the air conditioning evaporator core on 2008 Cadillac CTS?
A: The first step to replace the air conditioning Evaporator core requires you to separate the hvac module assembly. Please remove txv insulation after which you should unscrew the hvac line clamp and remove its clamp. First remove the txv to Evaporator bolts then detach the txv line bracket followed by pulling the txv directly out from the a/c lines before removing it. The case must be unscrewed and unclipped before disconnecting the thermistor electrical connector so you can separate the hvac module to remove the thermistor from both the Evaporator core and the core itself. After installing new sealing materials you must fill the Evaporator with oil and replace the core before repositioning it correctly. Place and secure the thermistor on the Evaporator at its initial uninstallation spot before joining the hvac unit and tightly fastening screws with 1 n.m (8 lb in) torque. The next procedure involves installing the clips while connecting the thermistor electrical connector and applying refrigerant oil on the a/c lines before their txv installation. Set the txv properly on the Evaporator core before tightening the txv line bracket into place. The procedure begins with fastening the txv to Evaporator bolts with 3.5 n.m torque and moving to tighten the hvac line clamp followed by its screw to a 1 n.m torque. Place insulated tape onto the lines and txv before putting back the hvac module.
