An initial step to perform the discharge hose replacement task (LY7) in vehicles with VIN 7 without Direct Fuel Injection involves refrigerant recovery. Remove the air deflector after which you must unfasten the bolt connecting the compressor discharge hose to the compressor to separate the hose from the compressor. The bolt from the condenser must be removed so technicians can disconnect the discharge line from it to proceed with discharge hose removal. Discard the O-ring seals. The discharge hose installation process requires first lubricating new O-rings followed by hose installation onto the compressor. Fasten the discharge hose bolt with proper torque up to 9.8 N.m (87 lb in). After attaching the discharge hose to the condenser position you should secure it by tightening the bolt to 5.4 N.m (48 lb in). Return the air deflector after the refrigerator system undergoes evacuation and recharging. The fittings require a leak test through use of the Halogen Leak Detector (J 39400-A).
