2008 Cadillac CTS Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Condenser on 2008 Cadillac CTS?
A: Before replacing the condenser, refrigerant recovery should be the initial step. The vehicle needs to be lifted and stabilized with support. Begin by removing the front air deflector retainers followed by removing front air deflector bolts then pull out the front air deflector . Start by taking out the condenser lower mounting bolts and then follow with the condenser upper bracket bolts. To replace the condenser first remove the discharge line bolt and disconnect the discharge line from the condenser. Dispose of the O-ring before continuing with the replacement process. Remove the condenser tube bolt to disconnect the tube from the condenser before discarding both its O-ring components. When replacing the condenser you must directly add PAG oil according to specifications before installing the new condenser. Before joining the condenser tube to the condenser, install the new condenser and also install a new O-ring to the condenser tube. Tighten the condenser tube bolt to 9 N.m after installing it (80 lb in torque specification). Position a fresh O-ring onto the discharge line then attach the discharge line to the condenser before adding the discharge line bolt and tightening it to 9 N.m (80 lb in). You should first install the condenser lower mounting bolts at 5.4 N.m (48 lb in) torque then move to the upper bracket bolts at 5.4 N.m (48 lb in). Secure the front air deflector to the vehicle by tightening the front air deflector bolts along with the retainers . Install the power steering cooler mounting bolts then lower the vehicle before evacuating and charging the A/C system. Perform leak testing on component fittings through the use of the Halogen Leak Detector (J 39400-A).
