How to Service and Repair the Evaporator on Cadillac CTS?

The process of replacing an Evaporator core begins by removing the hvac module assembly together with insulation from the thermal expansion valve (TXV) and the hvac line clamp screw and clamp. First remove Evaporator bolts of the txv followed by txv line bracket and proceed to draw the txv directly from the Evaporator core. The next steps include removing the case holding screws along with clips then unplugging the thermistor electrical connector to separate the hvac module before removing the thermistor from the Evaporator core and the Evaporator core itself. Add refrigerant oil to the thermistor installation process followed by putting on new Evaporator core seals before installing the thermistor. The thermistor must go back to its original position followed by joining the hvac components together with screws while maintaining 1 n.m (8 lb in) torque. After installing the clips you should connect the thermistor electrical connector and apply refrigerant oil on the a/c lines before placing them inside the txv. To install the txv slides the component onto the Evaporator core until it fully seats before adding the txv line bracket followed by txv to Evaporator bolts which should be fastened at 3.5 n.m (31 lb in torque). The last step involves fastening the hvac line clamp along with its screw to 1 n.m (8 lb in) torque while applying insulation to the hvac lines and txv before installing the main module back into place.
