2006 Cadillac CTS Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the evaporator core on 2006 Cadillac CTS?
A: The procedure starts with removing the HVAC module assembly together with insulation from the TXV along with the HVAC line clamp screw and HVAC line clamp. Start by removing the TXV to evaporator bolts followed by the TXV line bracket and extracting the TXV from the evaporator core by pulling it out straight. First detach all case-retaining screws and clips while disconnecting the thermistor electrical connector before dividing the HVAC module. First take away the thermistor from the evaporator core then remove this core itself. The process for installation requires adding refrigerant oil followed by swapping evaporator core seals before fitting the evaporator core. Set the thermistor in its original removal position then slide the HVAC module parts together while fastening the screws until reaching a torque of 1 N.m (8 lb in). After that install the case-retaining clips and then link the thermistor electrical connector. Apply moderate amounts of refrigerant oil over the A/C lines before placing them into the TXV unit. Seamlessly position the TXV onto the evaporator core until it settles and attach the TXV line bracket followed by tightening evaporator bolts to 3.5 N.m (31 lb in). There are three final steps to follow: clamp the HVAC line with the screw which needs to be secured to 1 N.m (8 lb in) torque levels then cover everything with insulation before replacing the HVAC module.
