2006 Cadillac CTS Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Replace an A/C Condenser in an HVAC System (CZ3) on 2006 Cadillac CTS?
A: Recovering refrigerant represents the first step in condenser (CZ3) replacement. Start your work by taking off the radiator support brackets then unscrew the upper condenser mounting bolts and detach the auxiliary cooling fan. The liquid line disconnect process begins by eliminating the bolt at the condenser while drawing the line straight out for o-ring protection. The discharge hose also needs detachment through the condenser with a straight pull followed by condenser removal. Place refrigerant oil during installation before installing both the new condenser and auxiliary cooling fan. Refrigerant oil should be used to lubricate the condenser's o-ring before installing the discharge hose and bolting it down to 5.4 n.m (48 lb in). Complete another lubrication step for the o-ring before attaching the liquid line to the condenser then secure the liquid line bolt with 5.4 n.m (48 lb in) of torque. Place the air deflector before tightening both upper condenser bolts to 3.9 n.m (35 lb in) and restore the radiator support brackets into position. Evacuate and recharge the refrigerant system before testing all fittings of repaired components with a halogen leak detector (J 39400-A).
