2003 Cadillac CTS Evaporator Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the evaporator core on 2003 Cadillac CTS?
A: The replacement process begins with evacuating both the HVAC module and TXV insulation. The procedure starts with unfastening the HVAC line clamp screw and HVAC line clamp before removing the TXV to evaporator bolts along with the TXV line bracket. Remove the TXV from the evaporator core by pulling it directly and off the unit and then remove the screws and clips that constructively secure the case. Remove the HVAC module from the thermistor electrical connector and disconnect it before removing the thermistor from both the evaporator core and its core itself. Install new evaporator core seals onto the evaporator before positioning the evaporator core and then add refrigerant oil. Reinstall the thermistor in its original position then combine the HVAC module parts and fasten them with screws that reach 1 N.m (8 lb in) torque. Once done with the case clips installation you need to connect the thermistor electric connector. Refrigerant oil must be applied to A/C lines before sliding them into the TXV while placing the TXV onto the evaporator core until full insertion. Secure the TXV line bracket in position along with the TXV to evaporator bolts through proper tightening of 3.5 N.m (31 lb in). The HVAC line clamp and screw must get replaced before securing the screw with 1 N.m torque (8 lb in). Insulation must then be positioned over lines and TXV before reinstalling the HVAC module.
